World Hearing Day 2022
In 2021, WHO launched the World report on hearing that highlighted the increasing number of people living with and at risk of hearing loss. It highlighted noise control as one of the seven key H.E.A.R.I.N.G. interventions and stressed the importance of mitigating exposure to loud sounds.

What are some sounds in your daily life which are considered loud?
Many common causes of hearing loss can be prevented, including hearing loss caused by exposure to loud sounds. You might not know this, but noise above 70 dB over a prolonged period of time may start to damage your hearing and any noise above 120 dB can cause immediate harm to your ears!
AEROPLANES
Aeroplanes flying overhead might make you think of travelling, but from 100 feet away these planes can rack up an amazing 130dB in noise!
ROCK CONCERTS
Sitting near the speakers at a rock concert often results in noise exceeding 100 decibels. This could cause hearing damage in less than 2 minutes!
MOTORCYCLES
Exposure to loud noises from the motorcycle engine is known to cause hearing damage. In fact, hearing damage is possible after about 2 hours of exposure!
VACUUM
Household appliances such as vacuum cleaners, lawnmowers and leaf blowers while convenient could generate enough noise to make you feel annoyed!
CONVERSATIONS
Speaking conversations with your friends and loved ones are usually held at 60dB and is within safe hearing levels.
WHISPERS
Whispered conversations are measured at approximately 30dB and is within safe hearing levels.
